Who we are
The NewstrAid Benevolent Fund, still affectionately
known as “Old Ben” is
the newstrade’s own charity, to the benefit of individuals in
the distribution section of the newspaper and magazine publishing industry.
NewstrAid is integral to the Trade and is there to assist when colleagues become casualties of modern society, not just because they are elderly or infirm.
NewstrAid is supported by all arms of the News Trade – publishers, wholesalers, retailers and transport companies, and without that help, would not be able to carry out the good work that it does.
Our 25 Area Committees cover the whole of the UK. They help NewstrAid by generating funds and raising awareness in their area. By holding events such as Quiz Nights, Golf Days, Greyhound Nights, etc they ensure that NewstrAid is always in the mind of anyone in the news trade in their location, thereby reminding them to seek out people we can help
