The helping hand of the Newstrade
Financial Assistance- Financial help to people in their own homes, in the form of
regular payments and “one-off” grants for example, household appliances, disability
or mobility items, small repairs etc. We also offer interest free loans to home owners
in respect of costly repairs, repayable on the sale of their property.
Advice- We help to maximise income, by giving advice on obtaining state benefits
to which they may be entitled.
Visiting Service - Personal visits from our local almoners, who ensure a friendly
and approachable service. Almoners play an important part in providing a compassionate
and efficient welfare service. Their visits help to alleviate feelings of loneliness
and isolation as well as allowing them to see first hand where help is needed.
People and their immediate dependents, who have been employed in newspaper and magazine
distribution in the UK and who have fallen on hard times. Distribution means people
who deal with newspapers and magazines from the time they leave the printing press
until they reach the reader.
Who qualifies? -People with a proven trade connection and are in need of support
and/or financial assistance. Each application is assessed on its individual merits.
