Area Committee Awards 2026

The following awards were presented at the NewstrAid AGM on 1st July 2026.

The Lord Riddell Shield

Awarded to the East of England Area Committee for the greatest percentage increase in income over the last 4 years.

The Mirror Group Salver

Awarded to the Thames Valley Area Committee for consistent increases in fundraising over the last 4 years through their flagship golf event.

The Sunday Mirror Challenge Cup

Awarded to the Surrey & Sussex Area Committee for their successful Curry Night in Brighton.

The Joe Llewellyn Salver

Awarded to the South West Area Committee for totally reforming the committee and recruiting new members.

The David Mackay Quaich

Awarded to the Scottish Area Committee for most money raised in 2025.

The Beneficiary Support Award

Awarded to the East of England Area Committee for the greatest percentage increase in beneficiaries in their region.

The Simon Hornby Trophy

Awarded to Martin Manuel for his ongoing assistance and cooperation with Head Office during the year.

Gold Award

Awarded to the Scottish Committee for raising £122,000.

Gold Award

Awarded to the North West Area Committee for raising £115,000

Gold Award

Awarded to the West Midlands Area Committee for raising £111,000.

Gold Award

Awarded to the Thames Valley Area Committee for raising £104,000.

Silver Award

Awarded to the East of England Area Committee for raising £85,000.

Silver Award

Awarded to the South West & Wales Area Committee for raising £77,000.

Silver Award

Awarded to the Yorkshire Area Committee for raising £66,000.

Silver Award

Awarded to the Shires Area Committee for raising £42,000.

Silver Award

Awarded to the East Midlands Area Committee for raising £41,000. The Committee also received a certificate to recognise that more than 90% of beneficiaries in their region receive a call or visit from a Welfare Volunteer.

Awarded to the London East Area Committee for raising £39,000.

Awarded to the Wessex Area Committee for raising £36,000. The Committee also received a certificate to recognise that more than 90% of beneficiaries in their region receive a call or visit from a Welfare Volunteer.

Awarded to the Surrey & Sussex Area Committee for raising £30,000. The Committee also received a certificate to recognise that more than 90% of beneficiaries in their region receive a call or visit from a Welfare Volunteer.

Silver Award

Awarded to the North East Area Committee for raising £23,000.

Good Samaritan Award

Awarded to the Dave Martin for his work as Chair of the Surrey & Sussex Area Committee, his ongoing dedication as a Welfare Volunteer and the support he provides to the charity through attending events and meetings.

Good Samaritan Award

Awarded to Phyllis Corner. Sadly Phyllis passed away earlier in the year but she was notified of the award and was delighted to have been recognised for her long history of volunteering with the charity as a Welfare Volunteer and as a member and chair of the North East Area Committee. She will be very sadly missed.
