We have accounts on a couple of online shopping sites which allow purchasers to give to charities whilst they shop. There is no extra cost to the shopper and it simply requires you to set up an account, select NewstrAid as your charity of choice and get shopping – here is a bit more information:
AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon with the same products, prices and shopping features as Amazon.co.uk The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, Amazon will donate 0.5% of the net purchase price (excluding VAT, returns and shipping fees) from your eligible AmazonSmile purchases.
Millions of products on AmazonSmile are eligible for donations to charities by Amazon. You will see eligible products marked “Eligible for smile.amazon.co.uk” on their product detail pages.
NewstrAid is now set up as a charity on AmazonSmile – all you have to do to start donating – at no cost to yourself – is visit https://smile.amazon.co.uk sign in with your Amazon login details and select NewstrAid as the charity you would like to support. Then whenever you shop at Amazon make sure you access it via https://smile.amazon.co.uk and you will be helping us to support those facing hardship.
Similarly, The Giving Machine allows you to shop online at a wide range of retailers and donate a small commission to NewstrAid. Retailers on this site include; John Lewis, Ebay, Next and Argos All you have to do is visit the Giving Machine website, create an account and amend the cause you want to support to NewstrAid. If you want to support other charities too you can choose what percentage of the donation goes to each charity you list on your account.
Once you have an account – simply visit www.thegivingmachine.co.uk to access the websites you want to shop through and a small donation will be generated from your shopping.
We are very grateful to everyone who signs up and helps us in this way. Your donations – however small – will help us to continue to support colleagues from the news trade who are in need and facing hardship.
