Retailers and industry suppliers showed their support for NewstrAid at this year’s Better Retailing Festival & Awards, helping to raise more than £1,200 for the industry charity through a raffle held during the event on 14th September 2026.
The fundraising provided NewstrAid with an opportunity to raise both vital funds and awareness of the free and confidential support it provides to people from across the newspaper and magazine industry.
Paul Bacon, Operations Manager for NewstrAid, said: “We were delighted to once again have the support of Newtrade Media and everyone attending the Better Retailing Festival & Awards. Events like this give us a valuable opportunity not only to raise funds, but also to remind retailers and their staff that NewstrAid is here for them if they need us.”
The money raised will help NewstrAid provide financial, emotional and practical support to people from the newspaper and magazine industry who are facing difficult circumstances.
Paul Bacon added: “A significant proportion of the people we support have a connection to the retail sector, so having a presence at an important industry event like the Better Retailing Festival & Awards is particularly valuable. Raising more than £1,200 is a fantastic result and we are extremely grateful to everyone who entered the raffle and helped make it possible.”
Parin Gohil, Managing Director of Newtrade Media, commented: “We’re delighted that this year’s raffle raised more than £1,200 for NewstrAid. The charity provides important support to people throughout our industry, and we’d like to thank everyone at the event who got involved and helped us achieve such a great total.”
