Winter Comfort Grant helps hundreds facing hardship keep warm this winter.

This week, NewstrAid issued more than 400 Winter Comfort Grants totalling £61,500 to vulnerable households throughout the UK. These payments were generously supported by a grant from the Gannett Foundation and will allow hundreds of beneficiaries from the news trade to keep warm over the winter months.

Sinead Flood, Welfare Manager for NewstrAid said: “This grant is specifically intended to alleviate stress and hardship and we hope it will bring comfort and warmth to our beneficiaries during what could be a very difficult winter.“ She added, “Recipients of the grant are able to decide how best to use the money whether it goes towards a heating bill, the purchase of a new winter coat, or perhaps, some warm bedding”.

Mike Mirams CEO for NewstrAid said “We are extremely grateful to the Gannett Foundation for their generous award of £10,000 to support the Winter Comfort Grant. Their support has helped us to ensure that hundreds of our beneficiaries stay warm over the coming months.”
